If you ever thought someone was watching you, you're right.

Albany's plan to install red light cameras is moving forward, though with less cameras planned than initially, reports the Times Union.

The first camera is going up today in the intersection of Northern Boulevard and Shaker Road. There will be signs letting you know you're coming up on them, and there's a grace period as well. After the $50 fines start showing up in the mail.

The first intersection is 30mph, and having lived in the area all my life, I've learned one thing about upstate drivers. The speed limit indicates the minimum speed you should be going or other drivers will be angry at you.

The best advise I can think of, is avoid the intersections at all costs. This one is going to be tough though, it's set up like a check point almost with very few ways around it.

If I was driving around that area often, I'd get familiar with Old Hickory Drive. Otherwise I may just give up on exit 6 of I-90 altogether and just take the extra minutes to get where I'm going from 6A or 5. Route 9 might also help you get around the intersection, but if you're heading to the Albany Memorial Hospital or Comedy Works, you're gonna have to find a way to deal with it.

The red light camera is set to go live in a week or two. Yes, that's the official timeframe.
