Red light cameras could be on their way to Albany and carry a financial fine.

Albany is currently considering adding up to 20 red light camera across the city to catch those breaking the law. Currently they are working out with the city's police department on what intersections to install the cameras once approved.

The camera would only take a photo of the license plate of the offender's car. The ticket would be sent to the registered driver of the car. The fine is $50 and if it goes unpaid, an additional $25 could be added. It won't carry any points against your driver's license.

Can you fight the ticket? As in any case, you have the right to, but don't ignore the ticket, as your car could get booted or towed for failure to pay.

It will be up to the state to approve the cost for the camera. No word on when that may happen.
