A few weeks back, we reported that the City of Albany was looking to install red light cameras throughout the city. Well they are one step closer to making that a reality. The City's Common Council approved the bill for the cameras on Monday in a 10-5 vote. This means the bill will be passed along to the state legislature for approval.

Some say installing these cameras is a 'quick cash grab' for the city but Assemblywoman Patricia Fahy told News 10:

The results are demonstrating across the country. Dramatically reduce the number of accidents

No word on what intersections would see the cameras but the city has been in discussion and is weighing the options.
