One of wrestling's all time greats announced Monday that he is battling prostate cancer. Bret "Hitman" Hart took to social media on Monday to make the announcement to his fans around the world.

Bret Hart made the announcement on Facebook and it was posted to his official website. He stated "I've had a great lifelong dance and I'm a survivor of many hard battles. I now face my toughest battle. With hesitation and fear, I openly declare myself in my fight against prostate cancer. In the next few days, I will undergo surgery, with the hope of defeating this nemesis once and for all." You can read the entire announcement here.

Being a long time wrestling fan, I am very saddened to hear this news and hope that Bret defeats this battle. "The Hitman" is truly on of the best, who accomplished many achievements in his 23 year wrestling career including world championship titles and tag team titles with partner Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart as The Hart Foundation.  I had the opportunity to work in ring with Bret about 5 years ago in a wrestling angle with independent stars Vik Dalishus and Hale Collins at a NEW (Northeast Wrestling) event. It was one of the greatest highlights for me in my life. You can check out a news report covering that event courtesy of Cablevision below.
