The Twin Towers were enormous buildings and the attacks of 9/11 were of such magnitude that people were able to see the skyline change from neighboring states and camera-equipped satellites were even able to capture the aftermath from space.
A supernova is a pretty cool, and pretty scary thing. It's basically a star that has exploded light years away, but it's so bright that we can spot it here on earth. Imagine if the sun pulled a supernova? That would be quite the buzz kill. Over the weekend the first visible supernova in 25 years happened, and if you didn't see it here is a great video of it occurring.
The next Mars rover, named Curiosity, which isn't exactly the best name in my opinion but it does fit, is scheduled for a late launch this year and should reach the surface of Mars by August 2012. It has a large robot arm, a "frickin'" laser and is about the size of a small car. And it's all powered by 4.8 kgs of Plutonium-238. Wired Magazine has photos of the rover being assembled.

Little is known about the surface of the 1st planet in our solar system. One thing we do know, is that when you stand on the day side, the Sun is hot enough to melt lead. That right there is a bad sunburn waiting to happen. But the Messenger spacecraft is now in orbit above Mercury taking photos and giving us a new look at the 1st Rock from the Sun.
After more than 20 years in the NASA space program the space shuttle Discovery descended from space for the final time yesterday and touched down at Cape Canaveral, FL for the last time.
Talk about having a great view! Some passengers on a flight from Orlando got a great view of last weeks launch of the Space Shuttle Discovery blasting off. One lucky person was even lucky enough to get the whole thing on tape.
