You know a Yakuza game is legit when someone is seen wearing silver-tipped, snakeskin boots and a shirtless old guy with cloud and dragon tattoos around his body tries to kill you.

This new trailer for Yakuza 0 takes place in 1988 and acts a prequel to the previous games of the franchise. Yakuza series protagonist Kazuma Kirya is only 20-years-old as he competes against dangerous club owners and rich men with plenty of criminal syndicates working underneath them. We also get to see a much younger Goro return. As you can tell by the trailer, we're returning to the era of '80s and '90s arcade games as defeated enemies will drop money as you beat them down. '80s crime stories always seemed like a lot more fun than their modern counterparts, with drugs and neon being a regular part of the environment.

While the last game of the franchise, Yakuza 5, never made it to a western release, we really hope that Yakuza 0 will. Zero is expected to hit PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 in Japan sometime in 2015.
