Just when I think the world can't get any worse, I read this. I've heard of aids stealing from their disabled clients and such, but this is just the lowest of low. A Colonie woman was charged with stealing money from the blind resident that she cared for in order to support her cocaine habit.

31-year-old Cheryl Kirk was charged with second-degree grand larceny and first-degree identity theft after stealing nearly $60,000 from the bank account of the 50-year-old blind woman she cared for. Police stated she used the money for her drug addiction to cocaine.

Kirk was never officially hired by the woman, but moved in with her shortly after becoming friends with her. She then began to gain access to the woman's financial information- her ATM card, check book and PIN number. The stealing began in September of 2010.

On Thursday, the blind woman's bank, Capital Communications FCU contacted police when they suspected she was being ripped off.

The bank determined something was wrong after several suspicious ATM transactions over the past few months, including an attempt by Kirk to cash an unauthorized check, police said. - timesunion.com

Kirk was arraigned in Town Court and sent to Albany County jail. She was set on $25,000 bail, and was due in court yesterday. Stay tuned for updates on this story.
