After a game against Rensselaer ended early due to fighting, the Whitehall Board of Education terminated their head football coach.

Varsity football coach Justin Culligan was fired Monday in a closed session meeting. According to reports, there was no discussion over the topic of the dismissal of Culligan and the board voted unanimously.

The game against Rensselaer had to end prematurely after several incidents led to a near bench-clearing brawl.

I am still confused on the cause of the brawl or the involvement of Culligan even after reading several articles. I also base all my knowledge of high school football on that in which I have seen in movies. So I will have to assume that this is either exactly like "Varsity Blues" or "Remember the Titans." I don’t know a whole lot of other movies so it’s got to be one or the other for me to understand the situation at hand. [more]
