Always sad to see a local business close down after many years of business, and Hill's Stationery in Troy will be closing it's doors.

According to troyrecord.com, the downtown Troy shop with a lot of family history that opened it's doors in 1920 will close it's doors this Friday, Nov. 4 at the close of the business day. Owner John Hill, the third generation to run the family-owned business said it was a tough decision. Hill has been running the business the late 1980's and is now semi-retired. Having spent almost every day at the store, he decided it was time to fully retire. Like many small business, things got tough with the rise in popularity of the big-box office supply stores, so Hill's Stationery had already been downsizing for the past few decades. Most of the business in recent years has been from the many loyal customers who have come in to make copies or send faxes.

Hill says entering retirement is bittersweet and knows it's the right decision. A clearance sale is currently taking place at the shop and refreshments will be served on the final day this Friday. For more on this story, click here.
