With news of a Troy man being hit by a car last night as he rode his bike, I think it's important to remind all bicycle riders to wear bright clothing and definitely be aware of your surroundings. It's dangerous out there.

Update:

53-year-old Stephen Nolan, who was on life support all night, has passed away from his injuries.

The accident took place near the Green Island bridge at Federal and King Streets around 9:30 pm, Monday night.

According to news reports, a middle-aged man rode his bike into the path of a car and was struck. No charges were filed against the driver.

Sadly, the bike rider is not expected to survive the accident.
