UPDATED @ 3P -The barge with the crane on it has been corralled on the Mohawk River and officials are attempting to make it a more permanent mooring. The Twin Bridges have reopened.
A 40 ft runaway barge with a 30 foot crane on top is heading toward the Twin Bridges, prompting authorities to close the bridges
We just received word that Schenectady and the Town of Niskayuna are advising residents who are in low lying areas from Lock 7 to the Albany County line to evacuate immediately due to a possibility that Lock 7 may fail.
One of Hurricane Irene‘s unfortunate structural victims this weekend was the 141-year-old Bartonsville Covered Bridge in Bartonsville, Vermont.
Like many area cities Troy has it’s hands full this morning with post Irene flooding. The Hudson River at Troy is flooding parts of downtown and still has yet to crest.
After being in the house all night Saturday and then again most of the day, watching Steve Caporizzo doing marathon coverage of the storm, Kim, my daughter and I, started to feel a little stir crazy. So we decided to venture out when there was a break in the rain and see what if any damage was out there. So we took a walk around the area we live so see "what was what".

Local officials are suggesting you stay home to avoid the danger of downed trees, power lines, and flooding. Be safe! An earthquake epicentered in Virginia occurred Tuesday afternoon, with people in Washington, DC, New York, Ohio, North Carolina, Massachusetts and Toronto reporting they felt the tremors, as well.
Reports thus far indicate the quake registered a 5.9 on the Richter scale.
You had to have felt that small earthquake just before 2PM this afternoon - it was a pretty widely felt quake. Preliminary reports say that the quake was 5.8 and hit in Virginia. People from DC to NYC and Boston, plus here in Albany felt the shaking
