Slash Jams With School Kids in South Dakota

Back in his younger days, Slash lived the rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle to the fullest. These days, he’s a dad, and encouraging the next generation in their musical pursuits. And this past week, he jammed with students at the Brennan Rock and Roll Academy in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Slash tells KELO-TV he hopes a similar venue opens in his hometown of Los Angeles. “The public school system, they keep downsizing because of the budget and the first things they take out are the arts,” Slash opined.” Art classes, music classes, stuff like that. It’s unfortunate because that’s a huge outlet for young people to latch onto.”

Slash was impressed with the talent of his young bandmates. “It was great,” he exclaimed. “Once we got everything in tune we were off and running. The drummer was really good. One of the bands that played before us, the bass player was amazing so, ya, they all have potential.”

Slash produced and scored the horror movie ‘Nothing Left to Fear,’ which premieres this weekend. Coming up tomorrow (Oct. 3), Slash and the movie’s director Anthony Leonardi III will appear at the AMC 16 in Burbank for a pre-release screening and Q&A. Tickets are available here.
