Happy Birthday today (Sept. 23) to Neal Smith. The former drummer for the original Alice Cooper Group is 70. Also celebrating is Bruce Springsteen (68).

Neal Smith is best known as the drummer for the original Alice Cooper Group from 1967-1974. The band broke onto the scene in 1971 with the albums Pretties for You and Easy Action, along with the hit “I’m Eighteen” from the album Love It to Death. They followed that up with the albums Killer, School’s Out, and Billion Dollar Babies. The Original Alice Cooper Group’s final studio album would be 1974’s Muscle of Love. A successful solo career for Alice Cooper would begin in 1975 concept album Welcome to My Nightmare. The original Alice Cooper Group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011.

It was reported last year by Loudwire.com that the original Alice Cooper group would be reuniting for a new album. The "classic" Alice Cooper Group lineup does appear on two tracks off Alice Cooper's latest album Paranormal which was released in July. Cheers to Neal Smith on his 70th today!
