Do you know what a credit card skimmer is? I had heard about them but paid little attention until this month when a growing list of New York State Walmart locations discovered the device installed at their check out stations. In short, skimmers are designed to steal your credit card information.

New York State Police now have 3 suspects they believe could be involved with this case and would like your help identifying them. Take a look at the pictures below to see if you can recognize the individuals.

Forbes reports that it isn't always easy to spot a skimmer but suggest that you look at the credit card reader to see if it fits on the machine properly. Many skimmers are placed on top of the real reader and don't always sit flush. Although not easy to spot, employees at the Erwin, NY location identified the device, removed it immediately and called authorities.

New York State Police believe that the 3 suspects below visited the Erwin location on Monday July 3rd and may have conducted several other similar incidents throughout the Southern Tier and Central New York locations. Do you recognize them?

If these individuals look familiar to you or you believe that you have any information at all that could help solve this case please call New York State Police SP Painted Post at 607-962-3282.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation reminds us that these skimmers could be found at gas pumps, retail store check out stands, ATM's and more. The tricky part is that the device looks just like the keypad of most machines.
