Mick Mars is keeping busy and his latest project is working on a track for James Durbin’s debut album.  Durbin is the one who brought heavy metal to American Idol last season when he sang a Judas Priest tune, which actually prompted the band to come on the show and sing and play with him.  Mars and Durbin both announced via twitter that the two of them were in the studio laying down work on a track for Durbin’s album.

Durbin signed a deal with Wind Up Records last week and is recording an album with an old school heavy metal feel.  He has also been writing with Sixx: AM singer James Michael.  No date on a release for the album yet, but if it’s like his performances on Idol, it will be good.
