Have you ever bought or put a bid on something strange? How about a human tooth? Well, if not, you will have the opportunity to real soon, as late Beatles member John Lennon's tooth will be put up auction. It is expected to sell for $16,000.

The auction is scheduled to happen on November 5 in England, Lennon's home town. Back in the 60s, Lennon gave the tooth to Dot Jarlett, his housekeeper at his Surrey, England Kenwood mansion. He apparently couldn't get rid of it himself, so he told Dot to dispose of the tooth. However, Lennon told her to give the tooth to her daughter after learning that she was a Lennon fan. If only they knew the value that his tooth would have decades later.

Previous belongings of Lennon's had been sold by Jarlett before, including a jacket that was worn in photos that are featured in the Beatles sixth studio album Rubber Soul.

According to the article:

This is the most wonderful and weird item that we have ever had for sale,Karen Fairweather of Omega Auctions told the BBC. It is a truly unique item and it is really difficult to put a value on it.

It will be very interesting to see how much the tooth actually goes for. I don't know who would want to own such a thing, but I guess if you're a big enough fan than it's just as valuable as a brick of gold. I'm not one to talk because if it was say Alice Cooper's or Bert McCracken's tooth, I'd definitely want it!

What do you think of this auction item? What would you pay for something like this?
