Because you can't deny science.

When people talk about IPA drinkers I have often heard them referenced as beer snobs and maybe as being a bit pretentious. Well now we get to add another adjective to the description list thanks to science. Psychopaths.

Apparently the scientists at the University of Innsbruck in Austria conducted a study where they surveyed 1,000 people and first asked them to rank a variety of foods then asked them to take a personality questionnaire. Going on the theory that taste preferences develop very early in life, much like personality traits do. The scientists were hoping they could find a correlation between the flavors we like and our unique personality traits.

Well the results are in and looks like the more you crave bitter flavors the darker your personality is. Flavors like IPA's, black coffee, and tonic water (gross, who drinks plain tonic water? I'm pretty sure that the purpose of tonic water is for use as a mixer). It even goes so far as to say that you're "more likely to exhibit malevolent personality traits" ... The very definition of malevolent is "having or showing a wish to do evil to others." i.e. PSYCHOPATHS.

Soooooo I think I'm just gonna step away and enjoy myself a delicious stout or lager maybe even an amber or hefe ... away from all the crazies drinking IPA's.
