Much has been talked about Hoffman's Playland in Latham over the years. Many rumors of closing, being sold, etc. Much of those conversations were false including an online rumor in June that sparked the movement called "Save Hoffman's."

Dave Hoffman, owner of the local treasure, says that no offers are currently on the table but that Albany County officials and the owners of Six Flags Great Escape could be meeting soon about the possibility of taking over ownership.

County Executive Dan McCoy says he wants to do what he can to keep the local landmark alive and open for future generations to visit. McCoy in his quest to "save" Hoffman's went straight to the Great Escape owners with the idea of them buying it.

Though the final decision to sell would be up to Dave Hoffman, he told News10

We're excited about it because they have infrastructure and expertise to run operation like ours.

Where does Six Flags stand on this? A spokesperson for the company said they do not comment on these types of topics and that they realize the historical element of Hoffman's to the Capital Region.

Only time will tell what happens next but the fact that Hoffman's could remain open for many, many years to come is a great light of hope.
