Great Escape Is Adding New Rides And Booze For 2016 Season

Now you can calm your nerves before and after that rush of adrenaline.

Six Flags Great Escape will open for the 2016 season on May 14th with some new additions this year.

The new additions include the new ride Greezed Lightnin' that according to the TU "involves a 70-foot high looped track, with a train that gathers speed to reach the top in an inverted position. The ride will go through the loop a total of seven times, forward and backward" and will have a 50's hot rod theme, no doubt a nod to the Grease film (think they'll play Grease Lightning on repeat). The new coaster won't actually be open to riders until the week after the park opens so plan ahead if you're hoping to ride.

Also new to the Great Escape is their first sit down restaurant called Charley's Saloon which will be western themed and it includes a full cocktail menu! Yay booze!

While not technically new this year the Steamin' Demon is getting a bit of virtual makeover where you can have the choice between rocking some virtual reality goggles that will place you in the middle of a futuristic battle to stop an alien invasion or you can skip the goggles and just enjoy the coaster ride. Of course you can always ride twice and try both!

I don't know about you but this gets me in the mood for some summer fun! I think there might be a Six Flags trip in my future!
