The Tumbledown Trails Golf Course had a September 11 promotion go horribly wrong. Sometimes even I am not the best at proofreading my work before publishing it. But when you have marketing plan to capitalize on a national tragedy, sympathy over celebration might be a better path.

Deadspin also makes a great point:

Nine holes for just $9.11! 18 for $19.11, which barely makes sense, but it's got 9/11 in it! We'll even throw in a cart!

With logic like that you can't get upset at TTGC. Clearly they didn't know any better.

And now TTGC have issued an apology via Facebook for their poor choice of words.

We would first like to apologize to everyone that we have upset or feels we have disrespected in anyway. By no means did we mean to do this.
Here is what we will do this Wednesday 9-11;
we will still let all that have tee times booked play for the previous rates we posted.
Then for all other golf that day we would like to donate the $ difference between our normal rate and the previous price for the day to the 9/11 Memorial.
We hope that everyone will now see this as a positive as we really meant it to be. Again we do sincerely apologize for offending anyone & hope that you do accept our sincere apology.
Thank you

While I believe this is being blown way out of proportion and didn't mean to cause any harm, it's still great to see that people still remember the significance of 9/11. To use this day as a promotional gimmick seems like a cheap way to boost revenue.
