County Waste has partnered with us to honor those in our communities who are truly making a difference.

All throughout 2015 and 2016, we will be recognizing one “hero” per month based on their inspirational feats, work helping their neighbors and everyday passion.

This month we honor Scot Straight, a police officer from Glenville who has been on the job for the past 13 years.

Straight's favorite thing about his job is getting to work with his community's youth. "He uses every moment as a teaching moment," his nominator said.

Straight is constantly giving all his time, both at work and his free time, to better his community. In addition to policing, he has coached youth basketball for several years.

Learn more about Straight through an interview we did with him in the video below, and click here to see how you can nominate a hero next month, when we’re honoring a local firefighter. The winning hero will receive four (4) tickets to any Siena Men's Basketball game in January or February!
