This Friday, (June 2) is National Doughnut Day.

According to USA Today, National Doughnut Day was established in 1938 by the Chicago Salvation Army to honor women who served doughnuts to soldiers during Word War I and it's celebrated on the first Friday of June each year. Well, to celebrate, shops across the country are offering up free doughnuts! Dunkin' Donuts, Krispy Kreme, and Cumberlad Farms are among the business that are participating in the big day.

Dunkin' Donuts will be offering a free classic doughnut with the purchase of any beverage all day long on Friday.

Krispy Kreme will be offering a free doughnut of your choice with no purchase necessary at participating locations.

Cumberland Farms will be offering a free doughnut between 5 to 10am with the purchase of any dispensed beverage.

Well it looks like I'll be officially off the diet this Friday. Who would wanna turn down free doughnuts? Not me! See ya at the local pastry shop Friday.
