Dave Grohl and his band of merry Foo Fighters have been playing packed stadiums for years, but on this year's Record Store Day, a celebration about all things indie and local, the rock group made an arena out of Record Connection, an independent strip mall store in Niles, Ohio — not coincidentally located just miles from Grohl's hometown of Warren, Ohio — for a performance in front of 150 fans. Watch a local radio DJ hype up the crowd before the show above, and a clip from Foo Fighters' performance below:

"I know we're in a strip mall," Grohl said to the crowd during their 10-song, one-hour set. "[But] let's pretend this is a stadium!"

Grohl was this year's Record Store Day Ambassador, and he did his part in making the festivities as awesome as possible: In between regaling the crowd with stories about growing up in the area and noting their proximity to his grandmother's house, they played a career-spanning set that included older cuts like "Big Me," more contemporary hits like "The Pretender," and a cover of Kim Wilde's "Kids in America."

As if the whole ordeal wasn't rock and roll enough, Kelly Pavlik, an Ohio-native retired boxer with a career record of 40-2, went ahead and got arrested after he “showed up heavily intoxicated and began fighting.”

Probably still riding the high from his band's nostalgic performance, Grohl later joined recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Joan Jett on stage during the Hall's opening ceremonies to round out what most would consider a full day.
