Foo Fighters’ New Album Is Coming Out in November
Hot on the heels of a just-released teaser trailer for their upcoming TV series, the Foo Fighters have unveiled a date for their new album. Well, not an exact date. But a closer-than-we-had-before sorta date. Their next record, their eighth, will come out sometime in November.
"I've pulled up the family tree of American music and exposed its roots to find inspiration for the next Foo Fighters album," frontman Dave Grohl said in a press release announcing the new album.
It appears that the inspiration for the new album, as well as 'Sonic Highways,' the HBO show that will document the making of the LP, has its roots in Groh'ls last big project: the 2013 movie ‘Sound City.’
The documentary showed Grohl and some of his famous pals recording at the Los Angeles studio that was the birthplace of many of rock’s greatest LPs, including records by Fleetwood Mac and Nirvana. The upcoming album, which is still untitled, and TV show travel across the country as the band makes the record in different legendary studios.
“It all started with the idea of recording at different studios all over the country,” Grohl says in the voiceover for the new trailer. “Doing something to make it new. You can tie all of these people and places together with these sonic highways. This is a musical map of America.”
