Lacey Sturm, who left Flyleaf in 2012 to pursue a solo career, has written the book, 'The Reason: How I Discovered a Life Worth Living.' The memoir will be released on Oct. 7.

The book description reads, "With raw vulnerability, this hard rock princess tells her own story of physical abuse, drug use, suicide attempts, and more--and her ultimate salvation. She asks the hard questions so many young people are asking--Why am I here? Why am I empty? Why should I go on living?--showing readers that beyond the temporary highs and the soul-crushing lows there is a reason they exist and a purpose for their lives. She not only gives readers a peek down the rocky path that led her to become a vocalist in a popular hardcore band, but she shows them that the same God is guiding their steps today."

Sturm dedicates the book "to the one like my teenage self, who is a breath away from finding the beauty of a life worth living." 'The Reason: How I Discovered a Life Worth Living' is now available for pre-order through AmazoniTunes and Barnes & Noble.

Korn guitarist Brian 'Head' Welch wrote the forward for the book. He mentions his own struggle with depression and drug addiction and says, "A book with this much substance will, without a doubt, live on to change lives for generations."

In addition to music, Sturm also speaks out to others about her faith. She's part of The Whosoevers, a youth-focused movement to positively impact today's music, skateboarding and art culture. The organization's founders include Welch and P.O.D.'s Sonny Sandoval.

Sturm also performs and speaks for the RESET Movement, rallying students and young adults to pray for a spiritual awakening in the United States. Additionally, she partners with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and recorded a song for the organization called 'Mercy Tree.' The song and Sturm's personal story were featured in Billy Graham's 2013 sermon and film 'My Hope America - The Cross.'
