A national announcement was made recalling dog treats after an animal was made sick.  According to News 10 abc, multiple dog treats, including Castor & Pollux 'Good Buddy' and Merrick's 'Backcountry' dog treats.  It was reported that the treats were found to have high levels of beef thyroid hormone, and the sickened dog improved after stopping the treats.  You can find the specifics of the dog treats recalled at News 10 abc, and symptoms include weight loss, increased thirst, and increased heart rate.  I am a huge animal lover, and I don't want any animal to get sick, but I have to say I'm glad it was only one dog- that improved- and not a human food recall on a holiday weekend!
