Courtney Love earned raves in 1996's 'The People vs. Larry Flynt,' but acting has typically played second fiddle to Love's music career over the years. However, the past year has seen a revival for Love when it comes to acting as she's just been cast as a recurring guest star on the upcoming FOX drama 'Empire.'

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Love will play the role of hard rocker Elle Dallas, who is part of the musical roster at the titular record label portrayed on the show. Aside from those specifics, little is known about Love's role. The series, which is due to premiere on FOX at mid-season, stars Terrence Howard, Taraji P. Henson and Gabourey Sidibe among its regular cast.

Love recently shot scenes for the current season of FX's 'Sons of Anarchy,' appearing as a school teacher on the series. Earlier this month, it was also revealed that Love had taken a lead role in 'Kansas City Choir Boy,' a pop opera that's set to debut at the Manhattan Arts Center in January.

While 'The People Vs. Larry Flynt' is her most well-known role, Love has also appeared in such films as 'Sid and Nancy,' 'Basquiat,' '200 Cigarettes,' 'Julie Johnson' and 'Trapped.'
