Five Cinco De Mayo Drinks That Will Make You Loco

This Saturday is the 5th of May, or batter known as Cinco de Mayo.  It's a day to celebrate the Mexican culture, and also a great day to get hammered.

If there is one thing we really enjoy, it's drinking, and drinking heavily.  Usually it's to drown our sorrows, but who can be sad on Cinco de Mayo?  One of the most patriotic days for Mexico, and those of Mexican heritage, why not turn it into an excuse to get bombed?

Everyone will most likely be drinking Corona, Dos Equis or the standard Margarita, but we like to do things a bit different.  Kick things up a notch if you will.  These are some of our favorite drinks to make the day extra spicy.  When drinking these though, please refrain from attempting to do any sort of Latin dance, because we aren't responsible for you looking foolish and ending up on YouTube.

tequila El Diablo:

Fan of vodka and cranberry?  Why not add some steroids to that, and substitute in a little tequila?  Plus, lets face it, anything with 'diablo' in the title is badass.

How to make:

-1 1/2 ounce(s) Tequila
-cranberry juice
-fresh squeezed lime juice
-1/2 ounces simple syrup
-splash ginger ale
-lime wedge

Mix all ingredients in a highball or rocks glass.  Top off with ginger ale.  Garnish with a lime wedge, and enjoy.  Remember though, you're dealing with the devil here, so use caution.  No but really, this is a pretty tasty drink that you are sure to love.  More recipes at Delish.com

Texatini:

Everything is bigger in Texas, so that's why we love the Texatini.  It's like a Martini, but it gives you a nice kick in the stomach.  It's one of the best Margarita hybrids we have ever tried, though for some reason we can never remember how our night ends after there.  Weird.

How to make:

Salt

tequila

1.5 fluid ounce orange liqueur

1/2 cup sweet and sour mix

1 fluid ounce orange juice

1 cup crushed ice

1 jalapeno-stuffed green olive

Get a big margarita glass, moisten the edge and dip in the salt.  Then combine all the other ingredients, mix together and drink up.  Avoid the cowboy hat though.  You can't pull it off.  More drink ideas at All Recipes.

Tequila Shots:

Why mess with an old standard?  After a few of whatever you are having anyway you'll no doubt end up doing shots of your favorite tequila anyway.

Will it be a mistake?  Yes.  Will you feel like hell, and wonder why you are wearing a sombrero in the morning?  Sure, but you will have the memory of doing shot, after shot of tequila with all of your friends.  Or, maybe you won't.

Our favorite tequila to shots of is Hornitos, but obviously you can do this with any brand.  If you are feeling rich, go with Patron, or if you want to party like a rock star you could go with Sammy Hagar's Cabo Wabo.  You could always try 1800, because we hear that it even pours you a shot.

Perfect Margarita:

Much like the tequila shots, sometimes you just have to go with a classic.  Nothing wrong with a regular margarita, but you just have to make sure that it's perfect.  This recipe is sure to please.

How to make:

1 ounce tequila

3 ounces Lime Margarita Mix

lime wedge

salt

It's a very simple drink, but mixed together in the right way, it will also be unforgettable.  For an real nice touch, chill the glass before you add the mix.

Tequila Sunrise:

Have you noticed an on going theme here?  Tequila. Pretty much any drink with tequila will make your Cinco de Mayo one crazy time.

One of our favorite Cinco de Mayo treats is a tequila sunrise.  Just be careful with this one, or after a few of these you'll open your eyes and see the sunrise and say 'what the hell happened.

How to make:

1 (1.5 fluid ounce) jigger tequila
3/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
ice cubes
1/2 (1.5 fluid ounce) jigger grenadine syrup
1 slice orange, for garnish
1 maraschino cherry for garnish

You can use a shaker for this one, and kill two bird with one stone and call them maracas!  See, we are totally all about helping you out.  Now drink up and be happy.  Don't do anything that we wouldn't do, which isn't much.
