A driver in Schenectady lost control of his vehicle on Thursday morning, taking out a front porch, and SUV, and a fire hydrant in the process.

According The Daily Gazette, the driver of the vehicle was drunk and the accident took place on Albany street at 3:37am (April 19). The driver of the vehicle was treated at Ellis Hospital for minor injuries. The front seat passenger was taken to Albany Medical Center with a broken arm while the other passengers suffered minor injuries according to police. All were sent to the hospital. The vehicle was traveling at a high speed according to surveillance cameras in the area when it jumped a curb crashing into a resident's front porch and hitting an SUV and fire hydrant. Photos from the accident show Schenectady firefighters at the scene working to free a passenger from the car and other photos show some of the damage that occured. While the accident is still under investigation, the driver of the vehicle faces a number of charges including reckless driving and aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle. The driver was processed and turned over to Colonie police on an unrelated warrant.
