It's been rumored for some time now, but it's now official: the great(ly troubled) Mel Gibson has joined the cast of 'The Expendables 3,' where he'll play the main bad guy. He's also being joined by Antonio Banderas, another fading star who has been rumored to join the film for quite some time.
The last time we saw Indiana Jones, he was encountering aliens and disappointing millions of movie fans all over the world with 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.' Although we're just now washing the taste of that disastrous production out of our mouths, talk of an 'Indiana Jones 5' has long persisted, and now there may be enough distance for us to actually be a little interested. What does series star Harrison Ford have to say on the matter?
Before the critical accolades of 'Breaking Bad,' before the memorable stint on 'Malcolm in the Middle,' the great Bryan Cranston was just a working actor, the kind of guy who couldn't say no to a part unless he decided he didn't want to pay his rent. This means that the early filmography of the man who would be Walter White is filled with all kinds of odd projects ... and 'Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers,' a fact that Jay Leno dredged up when Cranston appeared on 'The Tonight Show.'
Ah, the continuing appeal of the one and only Denzel Washington. How much do people love this guy? They love him so much that they'll transform just about any movie he appears in into a respectable hit, even if that movie is a poorly marketed (but well-reviewed) action movie based on a comic book that no one read. We shouldn't be surprised that '2 Guns' shot to the top of the box office, but we are a little. Oh, Denzel Washington, you always catch us off guard.
As the 'Fast and Furious' series has progressed, the cast has steadily increased in size and star power. Just look at the line-up of this summer's 'Fast and Furious 6,' which somehow managed to wrangle up every cast member from across the franchise while adding a few more faces. Well, it looks like another character will be joining the crew for 'Fast and Furious 7,' but he will not be played by Denzel Washington...because he turned down the role.
We were already excited to see 'American Hustle' because it's the latest film from the always-interesting David O. Russell and because it has one of the strongest ensembles in recent memory. But now, with the release of two new images, we're really excited to see it because it apparently pulls no punches when it comes to completely '80s-ifying stars Christian Bale, Amy Adams and Bradley Cooper. They look ludicrous...and also kind of awesome.
The 'Rocky' franchise had its fair share of ups and downs over the course of six great-to-awful films, but 2006's 'Rocky Balboa' seemed to definitively close the door on the story of Sylvester Stallone's good-natured boxer. But, it turns out that the saga isn't over quite yet!
A spin-off titled 'Creed' is in the works and it will follow the grandson of Apollo Creed, the champion boxer and chief rival/best friend of Rocky Balboa.
Once upon a time, we would have turned up our noses at the thought of an impending remake of 'Bloodsport' and said something like "Is there no originality left in Hollywood these days? A Jean Claude Van Damme film? Really?" These days, the news of an impending 'Bloodsport' remake can barely get a shrug out of us. But yes, they're remaking 'Bloodsport.'
After a few years of cool, iconic titles like 'The Dark Knight' and 'Man of Steel,' it looks like the upcoming Batman and Superman crossover film is going to be a bit more blunt. Although an official title wasn't revealed at the Warner Bros. Hall H presentation at Comic-Con 2013, screenwriter David S. Goyer was a little more candid at a panel celebrating the 75th anniversary of Superman.
Dennis Farina, the hugely recognizable veteran of film and television, has passed away at the age of 69. Over the course of his 32-year career, Farina specialized in playing cops and other authority figures, utilizing his background in law enforcement to springboard into acting.
There was a lot of buzz surrounding James Wan's 'The Conjuring' going into this weekend. "Scariest movie of the year." "Best horror movie in a long time." And so on. But it paid off. 'The Conjuring' not only won the box office, it won the box office in a way that R-rated horror movies often don't. Between this and 'The Purge,' R-rated horror is officially back in a big way.
Although many fans would agree that the third season of AMC's 'The Walking Dead' ended with a bit of a whimper, the trailer for the fourth season has arrived and gotten us excited all over again. Straight out of Comic-Con 2013 (read our coverage of the show's panel right here), the trailer has everything you'd want from this show: sweaty people screaming in southern accents, zombies munching on the flesh of the living, and all kinds of harrowing and morally grey situations.
