An Albany police officer was bitten by a drunk driver over the weekend while making an arrest.

According to The Times Union, 29 year old Albany resident Jason Alexander Twiss was stopped for speeding and when stopped, Officer Michael Dring noticed Twiss had watery eyes and alcohol on his breath. The officer also found half-empty cans of beer in the car. The driver failed five field-sobriety tests and was arrested. While putting the driver in the squad car, he was uncooperative and proceeded to bite the officer in the finger. Officer Dring's injury was considered minor but was evaluated at Albany Medical Center before Dring returned to work upon release according to Albany police spokesman Officer Steve Smith. Twiss now has several charges against him including felony assault, driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, and unreasonable speed.
