The vote is in.

Today, people who most likely get paid far more than $15 an hour decided that fast food workers deserve more. The vote was unanimous, according to News10.

I've heard a lot of different reactions to this. A chef friend of mine said this would put fast food workers higher than sous chefs, which are supposed to be way higher up on the food service chain. I've heard that many fast food places will be looking into self serve. I've oddly not heard anyone who is specifically for this, which is strange considering how loud this got. I've seen a lot of outrage and comparisons to other jobs. I agree. "Fast food worker" seems like an odd job to have a higher wage than many other professionals.

I am having trouble getting angry over the decision to raise the wage. Right or wrong, fast food employees were able to identify a problem, band together, and make change. That's kinda what it's all about.

The $15 number isn't going to happen tomorrow. Like all changes in minimum wage, this will incrementally increase. The $15 number would kick in on July 1 of 2021. Also, it's not quite a done deal yet. There is officially a recommendation, but action still has to be taken.

Yes, this raise is only for the fast food employees, which means I gotta start perfecting my fryer skills before all the good jobs are taken.
