So, man buys a home. Man then goes through home, cleaning it out. While cleaning out his new abode man finds a foot-and-a-half-long mortar shell in his new closet. No big deal right?

The man in question resides in Saugerties and immediately took his new found item to the police station. Officers, who have a bit of military experience, quickly realized that the shell was active and took it out to the parking lot.

Apparently, the shell is from the Korean War with Saugerties Police Chief Joe Sinagra saying vets would often bring home 'souvenirs' live or not.

Saugerties police immediately contacted a State Police Bomb Disposal Unit who determined the 75-millimeter shell was live and, of course, removed it for disposal.
