If you thought you saw a Viking Ship sailing down the Mohawk River today you were correct...

The world's largest Viking ship, Draken Harald Harfagre, has been on a voyage from Norway to New York City this summer and has made a few stops along the Erie Canal on the way.

The ship was posted up in Little Falls over Labor Day weekend and has made it's way to the Waterford locks this afternoon. The hand-built 114-foot-long wooden ship is scheduled to stay the night in Waterford and then head south toward Albany at 8 a.m Wednesday morning. It is making it's way to Kingston with plans to arrive there on Friday, where it will stay until the following Thursday, then voyage on to New York City. According to WNYT:

The hand-built wooden ship has a stunning red sail and a carved dragon figurehead, but they had to be taken down so the craft could pass under bridges over the canal.

And the TU says that:

Plans are for the mast to be put back in place before the ship sails from New York City up to Connecticut.

This thing looks crazy awesome! I seriously I hope I get to catch a glimpse of it before it sails out of the Capital Region. I hear that at some spots they stop at that  they are even having deck tours of the ship! If you want to get more info on the ship and its travels check out their website!
