New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera will be in Saratoga Thursday night for a benefit and then will be at the Saratoga Race Course on Friday.  The third race on Friday will be named after him, he'll be in the winners circle address the crown and present the trophy to the winner. Usually at this time of year Mariano Rivera would be in a Yankee's uniform appearing on the mound to close out a game.   This year is different.   The Major League Baseball career saves leader hasnt pitched since May 3rd since he tore his ACL snagging fly balls in practice.

Tonight Mariano will be hosting a fundraiser to benefit the Mariano Rivera Foundation at Siro's, located at 1 Nelson Avenue in Saratoga Springs.  A foundation which addresses children's needs through programs on education, health and wellness.   The exclusive evening will include a plated dinner and a casual conversation with Rivera.  Attendees will also receive a signed baseball and have their photograph taken with the All-Star New York Yankees pitcher.   The cost of the dinner is $500 per person and tickets can be purchased by calling 516-355-4514.

If you don't have $500, try to catch Mariano at the track on Friday or wait until next baseball season as he has said numerous times that he expects to be back pitching with the Yankees next season.
