We are quickly approaching May which means we are getting very close to some of the summers big budget comic book movies premiering and I for one can't wait.

This summer is a nerds dream when it comes to the movies.  Finally Hollywood has discovered that some of the best stories are located right inside of comic books!  Now, I haven't picked up an actual comic book to read in years, but when I was a kid I couldn't get enough.  I still retain all the knowledge, some might say too much knowledge.

There are so many comic book movies set to premiere this summer and everything starts in May with Thor.   The story of the norse god of thunder sent to earth to learn humanity.  This one is a movie I can't wait to see as soon as possible.  It's just another one of the characters they need to establish before they make the Avengers movie.  We already have Iron Man and The Hulk, now it's Thor's turn. The other Avenger that is getting his own movie this summer is the king of all Avengers, Captain America.

The Cap movie is going to be big.  The best thing about the Captain America story arch is that they aren't really changing anything around.  They start things off in World War II just like the Captains real origin.  I'm glad too, because I did hear things saying they might make it into a modern tail, something that just wouldn't work.

More Marvel comic books characters coming to life this summer, the beginnings of the X-Men.  X-Men First Class comes out this summer as well and shows how everything got started.  I still don't know about this one.  The last two X-Men movies have kind of sucked so I don't think I'm going to be rushing out to see this one.  Hopefully I'm wrong, but I have to go with my gut on this.

DC also has one of their big characters out with a flick this May, Green Lantern.  I can't wait for this one either.  I think Ryan Reynolds makes for a pretty cool Lantern.  Plus it has Blake Lively in it and damn does she look hot.  I believe that DC is going to try and do a Justice League movie to kind of combat Marvels Avenger movie, but no lock in for any of the characters just yet.  That is one mistake that DC made when doing the Batman movies with Christian Bale.  They didn't lock him down for the Justice League like Marvel did with Robert Downey Jr in Iron Man.

On the graphic novel front, we have Cowboys & Aliens.  This one has some star power behind it too.  Harrison Ford and Olivia Wilde make up the supporting cast for Daniel Craig in this sci fi flick about an alien invasion in the old west.  The title is as ridiculous as Snakes on a Plane, but this one will be totally worth while.   If you don't believe me, just look at the trailer.
