I was looking around for some images of Albany from Thinkstock recently and stumbled upon a whole bunch of stock images taken of our capital city. According to Thinkstock, Albany is a pretty awesome looking place. I'm not quite sure it lives up to these photos. Let's take a look.

Ok. This is a nice photo from across the river. The only problem is that you're almost never actually looking at Albany from this angle.

This is another nice photo, again from across the river. Downtown looks pretty good from this angle. Solid sunset too.

This looks like it could be out of a Batman movie - but that's just the Albany docks at night.  You can see more of the city on the right edge of the photo.

Ok, apparently Thinkstock stopped in Rensselaer because this is yet another one from the other side of the River. Downtown looks nice - but that's another thing about these photos. Albany is more than just downtown.

Another one from Rensselaer. This is probably my favorite photo of the bunch. But none of them really tell us much about the city of Albany. Just lots of Downtown Albany's skyline. Fair enough, I guess, but no Washington Park, no Lark Street, no UAlbany. There are definitely some pretty major things missing here.

According to stock images, Albany is only downtown, can only be approached from the east, and, oddly enough, it is almost always sunset or night here in the state's capital.

Ok, so we had some fun - but if stock photos were to really capture Albany, what would they need to include?
