Happy Birthday today (Oct. 4) to drummer Gil Moore of Triumph. He’s 64.

Gill Moore is best known for his time as drummer and vocalist (sharing vocal duties with Rik Emmett) in the Canadian rock band Triumph. The hard rock power trio formed out of Toronto in 1975 and was popular in the late 1970’s through the 1980’s with the lineup of Moore on drums and vocals, Rik Emmett on guitar and coals, and Mike Levine on bass and keyboards. 1979’s Just A Game saw the release of singles “Hold On” and “Lay It on the Line”. 1981’s Allied Forces and 1983’s Never Surrender would go gold in the U.S. with Allied Forces eventually going platinum. The album featured hit singles “Magic Power” and “Fight the Good Fight”. The band dissolved in 1993 and reunited in 2008 for their Canadian Music Hall of Fame induction.

Nowadays, Gil Moore owns the largest recording studio in Canada called Metalworks Studios. The studio has been around for over the years and has recorded artists such as rapper Drake along with rockers like Rush, Guns N' Roses and Aerosmith. Cheers to Gill Moore on his birthday today!
