Watson Takes On Jeopardy

Tonight is finally the night.  The IBM super computer Watson, is set to do battle against two of Jeopardy's finest champions; Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter.

I have been looking forward to the IBM challenge for quite some time.  I think it was back in January that I first heard about this super computer getting ready to take on Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter, the two biggest jeopardy champions of all time.  Tonight is finally the night that I will get to see man against machine.  Fingers crossed that they ditch the Jeopardy theme and use the score from Terminator 2.

In the practice round, just to test to see if Watson was ready for the challenge, the computer was pretty dominant.  The thing that amazes me the most is everything that goes into Jeopardy that we has humans have to be able to understand.  The puns and word play make it extra confusing.  Being able to put together all that information and then click your buzzer first, I don't think I could last.  Fun to play at home though.  The guys at IBM had to figure out how to do all that with a computer.  The word combination's and the fact that he is going against both Jennings and Rutter who are very quick when it comes to the buzzer.  The IBM challenge goes today through Wednesday and I think it will be pretty interesting.  Check out the video of Watson at the practice round.
