Upstate New York sure does have some amazing apple orchards and one was just named the best in the COUNTRY!

It's been a tradition in Upstate New York for many years to visit one (or a couple) of the many amazing apple orchards in the area and pick your on apples once fall rolls around. Most orchards provide more than just apple picking, it's a whole fall harvest celebration with activities and tastings of apple everything.

Well recently USA Today asked their readers to submit their favorite pick-your-own orchards in order to find out which ones reigned supreme throughout the United States. While 4 of the top 10 came out of the east coast one Upstate New York Orchard was named the BEST in the country!

It's one I'm sure we are all familiar with whether you have been to the actual orchard or not it's no secret that over the last couple of years this orchard has been churning out some stellar ciders and spirits as well, think 1911 Hard Cider (which by the way you will be able to indulge in at the Saratoga Harvest Fest tomorrow)!

Beak & Skiff Apple Orchard in LaFayette, NY was voted #1 by the USA Today "10Best USA Today reader’s poll" saying:

This family-owned orchard has been growing apples since onion farmer George Skiff and dairy farmer Andrew Beak joined forces in 1911 to plant apples on a hillside along Rte. 20. The rest, as they say, is history. Today, Gala, McIntosh, Ginger Gold and Paula Red are just a few of the varieties offered from late August through late October. Live music events, Cider Fests, Orchard Runs and a Kids' Magic Show add entertainment to the apple picking.

While Beak & Skiff is certianly the top in the country and in Upstate NY which apple orchard do you think is the best in the Capital Region? Let us know in the comments!
