This week we're talking about the big concert event of the summer! Deep Purple and Judas Priest are teaming up for a tour that will play Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in Bethel NY on Sept 2 Watch video above.

Deep Purple formed out of England in 1968 and the band is considered to be one of the pioneers of heavy metal and hard rock. The band’s most successful lineup featured Ian Gillan on vocals, John Lord on keyboards, Roger Glover on bass, Ian Paice on drums, and Ritchie Blackmore on guitar. Deep Purple’s 6th studio album, Machine Head was released in March of 1972 on Warner Bros. Records and it was Deep Purple’s most commercially successful album. It was No. 1 in the UK for 20 weeks and top 10 in the U.S. for 118 weeks. Classic songs on Machine Head include  “Smoke on the Water”, “Highway Star”, and “Space Truckin’”.

Judas Priest formed out of Birmingham, England in 1969  and have sold 50 million records worldwide. The current lineup for Judas Priest is Rob Halford on vocals, guiatrists Glenn Tipton and Richie Faulkner, bassist Ian Hill, and drummer Scott Travis. The band’s most successful album was 1982’s Screaming for Vengence. It was the band’s commercial breakthrough featuring the classic lineup of Halford, Tipton, Hill, K.K. Downing, and Dave Holland. The album would sell over 5 million copies with the hit single “You’ve Got Another Thing Coming”. Judas Priest continued with much success throughout the 1980’s and right up through today. Rob Halford is one of the greatest metal vocalists of all time
