We are kind of blessed to have the spectacular views of fall foliage that we do. Are we blessed enough to make the top 50 list across the country?

There are immense amounts of tree lined back roads and even main thoroughfares so no matter where you go in the Capital Region you will see foliage. Except for maybe downtown Albany and Schenectady. I refuse to use the term Leaf-Peeping. I have seen people use that term. It sounds dirty. It is foliage watching. Anyway, here are the towns in New York that cracked the list of the Top 50 places for foliage in the United States.

They don't seem to have numbered ranks so here you go,

  • Lake Placid, New York
  • Skaneatles, New York
  • Alexandria Bay, New York

So sadly we didn't really make the list. Sure Lake Placid made the list but that is a bit too far of a drive to stare at leaves. It should be noted Bennington, Vermont makes the list too. Short drive from the cap district. What local town do you think has the best foliage?
