Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto is returning to the big screen after his Oscar-winning role in 'The Dallas Buyers Club.' The double threat entertainer will take on an iconic character as he embraces 'The Joker' from the DC universe in the upcoming flick 'Suicide Squad.'

According to ScreenCrush, Leto will join Will Smith, Tom Hardy, Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney and Cara Delevingne in the film, which finds a number of DC villains forced to be heroes.

Smith will take on the role of Deadshot. Hardy is cast as Rick Flagg. Robbie is Harley Quinn, Courtney will play Boomerang and Delevingne will turn up as Enchantress alongside Leto's Joker character.

David Ayer has been tasked with writing the script and directing. His writing credits include 'Training Day,' 'End of Watch' and 'Fury.' He also directed the two latter films.

The movie is on slotted for an Aug. 5, 2016 release.
