There's a bit of Albany whipping up some eats this season!

This weekend I spent some time hanging with my sister, who knew I was trying to teach myself the basics of cooking (mostly with her assistance because I'm terrible), but she turned me on to Food Networks 'All Star Academy' while I was there and she had me catching up and watching some of the last few episodes of last season before the new season began.

The new season seems to have some pretty intense competition with 9 contestants all competing for the $50,000 prize and I'm totally hooked!

Imagine my surprise when I come across an article from the Times Union and find out that one of this seasons contestants actually lives in the Capitol Region!

Jermaine Wright is a 25 year old (who on the show says he's from Jamaica Queens) lives in Albany and works in Schenectady and (spoiler alert) makes it through the first episode and even got to choose his mentor!

You can find out more about Jermaine, his experience on the show, and how you can taste his eats HERE or you can watch the first episode of this season for yourself HERE.

New episodes of Food Networks 'All Star Academy' air Sunday's at 9pm.
