On Sunday the Pittsburgh Steelers announced that they had signed Troy native Wade Hansen to a three-year $1.5 million dollar deal. If he makes the team after NFL training camp.

According to The Saratogian, Wade is from Troy and graduated from Tamarac High School in 2011 where he played football and basketball. After which he played defensive line for two years at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute before transferring to Virginia Tech. News10 caught up with Wade and says:

He’ll be in a battle for the backup right tackle spot, but he’s just happy to have a shot.

Although I am not a Steelers fan per say it's still kind of cool to be able to show some local love to one of our own ... you know, as long as they are not playing the Chargers (don't hate).

Totally wishing Wade the best of luck at training camp and we are super excited for the opportunity to root for him this season!
