Terrible news if you are a fan of the Syracuse Orange.  The number one seed in the East region just lost a big part of their team in Fab Melo, who has been ruled out of the NCAA tournament for academic reasons.   Due to privacy laws between schools and students, Syracuse couldn't elaborate, but ESPN reports that it's the same academic problems that kept Melo off the court earlier this season.  It could be a big blow for 'Cuse's tournament hopes.

After getting an at-large bid to the tournament, Iona looked to have things well in control in their play-in game against BYU.  They led the Cougars by 15 going into the half, and had a 25 point lead at one point.  That lead was not held onto, and BYU ends up rallying past Iona 78-72.  It's the largest blown lead in NCAA tournament history.  BYU now moves on to face #3 Marquette, while Iona heads back to New Rochelle, NY to wonder what could have been.
