The South Colonie school district will ask residents on May 20 to vote on the school's budget for 2014-2015 school year. To get their message across about the importance of the budget passing, the administrators for the district released a video reviewing it.

The budget is asking for a 3.9% increase in spending for the school year. This is due to rising costs and a continued loss in state aid from New York state's 'gap aid adjustment.'

The budget will require a majority vote to pass. If it doesn't pass and they have to move to a 'contingent budget,' the district claims they will have to cut $1.78 million in staff, educational services, and equipment purchases.

The video details everything about the budget and where to vote.
