To be honest I was getting a little worried that this years 'Alive at 5' wasn't going to happen because I hadn't heard anything about it and summer is fast approaching! As it turns out Downtown Albany's free summer concert series is in fact happening and returning to the Corning Preserve at Jennings Landing.

Last year  'Alive at 5' had to be held at Albany's Tricentennial Park due to construction and improvements to the stage area at the Corning Preserve. I have seen it since the renovations and I think we will all be pleased with what the city has done there.

Anyway, while the full lineup for this year's 'Alive at 5' is still yet to be reveled but the city has announced the series opener! According to the TU this years 'Alive at 5' opener will be none other than Karl Denson the saxophonist for the Rolling Stones!

Karl Denson's Tiny Universe will be headlining the kickoff of the free summer concert series on June 8th at the Corning Preserve at Jennings landing with local Saratoga Springs band, Let's Be Leonard, opening up the evening of music! The show starts at 5pm (hence the name 'Alive at 5') and will go until 8pm.

The rest of this year's lineup is expected to be announced at some point in the next couple of weeks we will be sure to let you know as soon as all the performers are revealed!
