We’re sad to report that legendary Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman has been diagnosed with prostate cancer at 79 years of age. Wyman put over 30 years into the Rolling Stones, performing on all the band’s most successful and iconic albums.

Few individuals can claim to be an original member of a truly godlike rock and roll band, but that’s exactly who Bill Wyman is. He held down the low end for the first official Rolling Stones lineup from 1962-1993. Wyman played on a total of 21 studio albums with the Rolling Stones, including the timeless Let it Bleed, Sticky Fingers, Exile on Main St. and Beggars Banquet. Since his break from the Stones, Wyman has jammed steadily with his own band, Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings.

"He is undergoing treatment and is expected to make a full recovery as it was caught in the early stages,” a spokesman for Wyman revealed. The family of Wyman has asked for privacy during this tumultuous time.

Despite undergoing treatment for prostate cancer, Wyman was in attendance at media mogul Rupert Murdoch’s wedding to Jerry Hall on March 5.

We’d like to wish Bill Wyman the very best during this difficult time. Here’s hoping for a full recovery and many more years on this earth.
