Robot Cheetah Is For Real [VIDEO]

I'm not sure what the usable applications of a robot cheetah are. MIT has created it, and it can run and jump on its own. The robot actually uses a complex algorithm to decide if an obstacle is in front of it, and how much of a jump it's going to need to make. To be fair, you do this as well.

I'm really trying to understand why we need a robot cheetah, and I can only figure that this is step one in a plan that will bring about real life super heroes. This piece of information will be looked back on years from now as "Captain Something That Pertains To His Superpowers Or Not" fends off "Doctor Something That Has Nothing To Do With How He Causes Chaos And His Army Of Evil Robot Animals".
